How to use the power plant map

The map shows 51,483 power-station records from official national inventories and a worldwide baseline. Type a country or plant name in the search box on the map, pick a country from the list, or press “Use my location”. Each dot is one record, coloured by fuel; zoom in to see individual plants and click one for its capacity, owner, operator, turbine manufacturer where published, commissioning year and source.

The panel beside the map filters by renewable or non-renewable generation, by fuel and by source inventory, and lists the largest plants first. Every view has its own link, so “Share view” copies a URL that opens the same country, filter and plant. Records describe installed capacity, not live output, and source dates differ — see data coverage. For how each country’s grid is organised, open its country profile or the grid operator directory.
