Privacy policy.
Less collected, more explored.
Power Stations Worldwide has no accounts, advertising or cookies. It uses cookieless, aggregate page-view analytics, and a small database only for comments that visitors choose to post.
What the website does
The site delivers static pages, station records and map resources. Search and filtering happen in your browser. The application does not set cookies; the only thing it saves in your browser is which comments you liked or disliked. Shareable map selections are stored in the page URL, so a shared link can include the selected country, station and fuel filters.
Hosting and map requests
When hosted on Vercel, page and file requests pass through Vercel’s infrastructure. Hosting providers may process IP addresses, request URLs and technical logs to deliver and secure the service. See Vercel’s privacy policy.
The interactive map requests tiles, fonts and sprites directly from OpenFreeMap. These requests reveal your IP address and the tile area and zoom you are viewing to the provider. The map is loaded on the map page; the homepage illustration is served locally. Read OpenFreeMap’s service information.
Page-view analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and visitors in aggregate: the page address, referrer, and approximate country, browser, operating system and device type. It sets no cookies and does not store IP addresses; visits are grouped with a hash that is discarded after a day, so visitors are not tracked across days or other websites. See Vercel’s analytics privacy information. Content blockers may prevent this measurement without affecting the site.
Comments
If you post on the support page, we store the name you choose to give (optional), your comment, the page and the time. To limit spam and allow one vote per person, we store a one-way hash of your IP address made with a secret key, never the address itself. Refused comments are counted by reason; their text is not kept. Comments are public and are stored in a Neon Postgres database in the EU (Frankfurt). Your likes and dislikes are remembered in your browser’s local storage so the buttons show your choice. To ask for a comment to be removed, leave a comment saying which one.
Donations
The “Buy Me a Coffee” button opens buymeacoffee.com, which handles any payment under its own privacy policy. We do not receive or publish payment details or amounts.
Optional location
“Use my location” requests browser permission only after you press it. Your browser or operating system may use its location service to provide coordinates. The application uses them in memory to choose a country and center the map; it does not send them to our server, store them, or include them in a shared URL. Viewing the resulting map still sends requests for that area to OpenFreeMap. You can decline permission and choose a country manually.
Electricity charts
Chart data is served locally with this website. Reading the charts does not contact Our World in Data or Ember. Their websites are contacted only when you follow an external source link.
External links
Source and attribution links open third-party websites with their own privacy practices. Copying a map link uses your browser’s clipboard only when you press the copy button; if unavailable, a selectable URL is shown instead.
Changes
This description applies to the static atlas. No Google AdSense ads or advertising cookies are currently active. If advertising, accounts or multiplayer simulation are introduced, this information will be updated and applicable consent controls added before activation.
